John Lescroart
(pronounced Les-Kwah) is the New York Times bestselling author of the Dismas Hardy series of legal thrillers, sometimes called the Dismas/Glitsky series. These wonderfully-written novels are well worth the time if you like legal thrillers, not a lot of gunfire, although at times there is some of that. You can read much more about John Lescroart on Wikipedia than I have room for here. For readers who like intelligent, complex novels, Lescroart is a terrific novelist. Within the run of Dismas Hardy/Abe Glitsky novels, there is something of a "trilogy"---three novels that hang together even more closely than the rest of the novels, although Dismas and his wife and acquaintances grow (and grow) on you as the series progresses. But these three novels, "The First Law," and "The Second Chair" and "The Motive" are often said to be a trilogy, all dealing with what is called (within the novels) the "Dockside Massacre." Lescroart's novel, "The Ophelia Cut," brings back events that occurred in that trilogy. If you read the trilogy, don't miss "The Ophelia Cut," which is a uniquely powerful novel. If you've never read a Lescroart novel, "The 13th Juror" isn't a bad place to start, unless you want to start at the very beginning, which would be with his novel "Dead Irish." Whichever way you go, you can't go wrong with John Lescroart. Click on a cover below to see it on Amazon.
Note: Amazon reviews for THE MOTIVE have been entirely tangled with reviews for Jonathan Kellerman's novel, MOTIVE. Most of "Lescroart's" reviews are actually reviews of Kellerman's novel, so the star rating isn't right and 80 or 90 percent of the reviews don't apply. Amazon needs to get that fixed.
