Gumshoe Luck

On a lonely Nevada highway, Mortimer Angel
stops at a roadside diner to get a bite to eat.
A girl is at the counter. She looks eleven years
old, quiet, shoulders hunched. A big rough
guy on a motorcycle shows up and gets violent with the girl, trying to take something from her. Mort steps in and saves her, then finds
himself and the girl on the run in his truck
with three men on fast motorcycles chasing
them, firing guns.

Who is this girl? What does she have that's so
valuable that these men are willing to kill to get
it? How do you outrun fast motorcycles in a
slow truck on a deserted Nevada highway?
